New Provos HMEs

In recent years several new Provox HMEs have been developed, based on the physiological research carried out in the Netherlands Cancer Institute. These include the Provox XtraMoist and Provox XtraFlow HME, which appear to have an improved humidifying and better thermal capacity, and the Provox Micron HME, with electrostatic filter and HME material, providing extra protection against airborne pollutants (bacteria, viruses, pollen and dust). The special construction of the Micron HME has the added advantage  that the inhalation air first is passing the electrostatic filter material, which is heated up already by the exhalation air. Due to its higher thermal capacity, this leads to a substantial increase in the end-inspiratory temperature in the trachea, which is clinically benificial.
